My mac G 4, I have owned for 4 years, no problems. Tell it what you want and it does it. Right out of the box, no having to buy an ethernet card, or upgrade IMMEDIATELY no having to load 25 things to make it work properly.

And it is a pretty white color too. My Ipod, nice little gem that plays all day as well. Easy to add music, I don’t have a billion tapes or cd’s in the back of my car anymore. I can drop the little music maker in my pocket while out and about.

Yes, the iMac comes in your choice of five yummy colors. Like lollipops.

If you haven’t seriously looked at Mac offerings in, say, the past five years or so (it’s been at least that long since iMacs were multicolored, btw), then you have really no right to even comment on this subject. Please inform yourself properly before you proceed to make an ass of yourself in print.

Oh, and the “it works – out of the box!” thing? It’s the user interface, stupid, not the fact that the computer turns on. Just a hint.

I use Macs and Linux at home, and Windows at work, so I’m not a noob. I’ve even used a command line more than once.

For me, it boils down to this: I happen to like using a computer that just lets me work, without getting in my way. In that respect, the Mac has everything else beat hands down (although desktop Linux is getting there; I’m playing with the latest version of Ubuntu now, and I like it).

So stop being snarky and discipline yourself. Your writing will be better and you’ll make more sense.

Anyway, this article could have been better. If you wanted to do something different you could have at least said:
Macs can do everything PCs can except gaming.

Even then its still a weak point. People like macs, people like PCs who cares?

or, comparing ipods and walkmans… i still have a walkman, too, but to equate them is daft.

as for “working right out of the box”, the argument is not that macs are free of manufacturing defects (which they certainly are not) as you claim, but that macs are easier to use, hence when you want to do something, “it just works”.

First off, I’m glad you’re so happy with your 20$ walkman. If it breaks, will Sony give you a new model free of charge, at any time after the purchase? Does it have as much space? No. And no. Does it even look half as good? No. This may come as a total shock to you, but some people just like nicer things. And you could bitch all day about how your walkman is just as good, but at the end of the day the iPod has superior sound quality and space. Hardly debatable.

Secondly, yeah. It does work RIGHT OUT OF THE FUCKING BOX. You don’t have to install anything, or deal with any “free trials” bullshit. Everything comes STANDARD. You plug it in, and go. And Apple has unrivaled technical support. That is also undeniable.

What’s a MacBook Pro good for? The same thing any computer running on Windows/Linux is good for, you jackass. Only it works more efficiently.

I should also mention that I was working in a print shop a year ago (print jobs all over Rhode Island, it was small. based in a vocational school.), and we were designing everything on G3 iMacs that still ran PERFECTLY. We did end up upgrading to the G5′s though, for speed purposes.

Apple will always own the shit out of every other fucking computer company. Stop hating because you’re too poor to buy one. End.

My IPod – That’s an Apple user whine not a Mac User. IPods work on PC’s too.

Everything is so sleek and Shiny – They don’t come in 5 colors anymore (That’s IPods). And the person who stated they come in White only. Umm. that’s wrong too. Mac’s come in 2 colors, White and BLACK.
But on the PC side, lets see, I can buy a Dell with a giant ELF (From World of Warcraft) on it and you are complaining about the 5 color Mac?
