KDE on Road Kill, Old games and Macintosh - Sad but true story.

Posted by: Rea Maor In: Internet and SEO - Monday, March 26th, 2007

It’s been a while since I last checked my reference stats on my control panel,
it seems that no matter how much I try to focus my traffic to specific keywords
I’ll always get several generic search engine traffic, without any delays I’m proud to present
my You searched, I’ll answer list.

1. First of all, let’s start with dosbox games and/or games for scummvm,
again and again I’m getting traffic from my 5 article series about Vintage Gaming
one of the best articles I had if you ask me (but clearly you don’t..)
Dosbox will load games, legal once mainly.. so you’ll need to provide it with path to the
game actual files (if via CD, DVD, floppy etc..) that means, that you’ll need to OWN a hard (or soft)
copy of the actual game (as software companies don’t like giving free gifts even after they are long dead).
you can easily do that from EBay, just look for the original game Disk or Diskette, it shouldn’t cost more than few dollars, or you can try and see if the game you’re looking for was classified as abandon by the original company and therefore found its way to the Net or your local P2P program
You can try your luck with original game files on one of the following:

http://www.oldgames.org/
http://www.the-underdogs.info/

Hopefully you’ll find what you’re looking for.

2. Now for the Second keyword, human 8-ball.
When I just started my blog, almost 2 months ago I’ve decided to call it Human 8-ball,
during that time I’ve found myself capable of answering more than Yes/No/Maybe
so I’ve slowly began to change and remove that word from my site, today if I’m not mistaken you’ll only
find it on the static banner at the top, hopefully this will be gone soon enough.

3. konqueror foxmarks
Just like last time, this also seems to be very attractive search term with my site’s visitors,
this is regarding few articles I’ve wrote about Browser War, feel free to check them out.
or if you’re interested in the original browser, check the following.

http://www.foxmarks.com/

4. what opens .7z file Mac
I guess this guy was looking for 7Zip (something that opens .7z compressed files) which
is available to FREE use on Windows, Linux and Macintosh.
http://www.7-zip.org/

5. and the last one for this time, ‘?Install KDE on road kills‘?
I know what you’re thinking and it makes me sick as well.. Nevertheless, it is still funny, as
I DID write an article about ‘?The Weirdest Sites Ever‘? which included an article about
How to Install Linux on a Dead Badger, this is just someone who took it one step too far.

What software do you use to see via what search terms your visitors arrive?

If someone types the url directly, does that show?

Do you know of a online community where webmasters could trade work?

Wouldn´t it be cool if you could go and say install a shopping card at someones site and in return he would write x many articles for you, or rewamp the layout, or do a SEO tune-up?

Any counter should offer the ability to see Search Engine referals,
personally I’m using Google Analytics and Webalizer that comes with my Server installed.

Your idea for a trade site is Very intresting, it might be hard to monitor such activities, but the idea itself is Very intresting.

I was thinking along the lines of a club. To be a member you would have to own and operate a website or blog. You would list where your skills lie and point to particulars like: I designed this layout/I wrote these articles.

Then the work could simply be traded, one on one, or use a points system.

Either members would advertise that they need something done and could do something else in return. Or they would advertise that they could do something specific and what they needed in return.

If there was a points system work could be rewarded with points that the reciever could use in turn to pay for his own work. Bit more complicated but perhaps more interesting. Perhaps both methods could be used.

These are only my musings, if you like the idea and want to do something with it go right ahead, I´ll be the first member, I can among others pay with new website ideas/concepts

This one requires farther thinking, indeed an interesting idea.
