I was thinking along the lines of a club. To be a member you would have to own and operate a website or blog. You would list where your skills lie and point to particulars like: I designed this layout/I wrote these articles.

Then the work could simply be traded, one on one, or use a points system.

Either members would advertise that they need something done and could do something else in return. Or they would advertise that they could do something specific and what they needed in return.

If there was a points system work could be rewarded with points that the reciever could use in turn to pay for his own work. Bit more complicated but perhaps more interesting. Perhaps both methods could be used.

These are only my musings, if you like the idea and want to do something with it go right ahead, I´ll be the first member, I can among others pay with new website ideas/concepts

Any counter should offer the ability to see Search Engine referals,
personally I'm using Google Analytics and Webalizer that comes with my Server installed.

Your idea for a trade site is Very intresting, it might be hard to monitor such activities, but the idea itself is Very intresting.

What software do you use to see via what search terms your visitors arrive?

If someone types the url directly, does that show?

Do you know of a online community where webmasters could trade work?

Wouldn´t it be cool if you could go and say install a shopping card at someones site and in return he would write x many articles for you, or rewamp the layout, or do a SEO tune-up?
