A great hack! Seven disks? Was this Windows for Workgroups? That had limited networking. I don't know how much networking was possible with plain Win3.1 so don't feel bad if it doesn't work;-) A reason for people to run Win3.1 or DOS is lots of data stored in files only readable by programs of that era.

When I got Windows, it came in SEVEN disk zips. I started putting all of them in one folder (figured out the same thing fbonomi did), but disk 7 had a lot of overlaps on file NAME, but with obviously different content (vastly different file sizes). I've got Windows up and running fine with the first six disks, as I saw here that it usually only comes with six, but I'm curious. Anybody know what that seventh disk might be all about?

actually, most of old applications do not really need you to swap disks: just copy all the files (from all the disks) in the directory and you can go

I really love running Win3x in DosBox. All I can say is it's _much_ better than Vista or any other Windows NT or 9x OS created. Runs especially well on Arch Lin. Say has anyone gotten Networking to work on windows 3.1 running on dosbox? Damn it would make my day if I could not only use Win3x, but use IE 5.01 as well hehe.

Hello,
I have my Wfw 3.11 running in Dosbox 0.72...pretty cool. I do have a question/problem, I am unable to use the a: drive within Wfw 3.11. Is there a way to configure Dosbox so I can access the floppy drive while using Windows?
Thanx,
Jim

The only good reason for this is to be able to play old games. I'm all for it. I still like playing games like Stars! and the first SimCity for PC.

Neat hack, Rea! You've temporarily one-upped me until I figure out how to get Basilisk emulating MacIntosh 7...

And, yahya... how can we ever explain why? I have a CD of Plan Nine From Bell Labs that I sometimes still boot up. With dozens of cool modern games at my disposal, I still go to a console and play text-mode Rogue sometimes. I sometimes miss XTreePro and OS/2 Warp. Talk about masochism.

Yeah, when you figure it out, could you tell *me* why?
