How to buy and sell for profit - Article #1

Posted by: Rea Maor In: Making Money Online - Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

During the last few years on the internet I had several profitable projects,
Some of them were Turnkey websites, just looking to get a quick dollar out of them
And some of them were Flipped/Upgraded websites that I bought, fixed up and sold again. I always find it very interesting as I don’t have to deal with a website from the bottom but from the point it’s already self-sustained and profitable, I just come and do my magic.

Doing this isn’t always as easy as it sounds and usually requires of you to understand the specific market of the website together with vary of Internet technologies.
In this series of articles I’ll do my best to explain you how to take your first project and make money out of it.

When dealing with self-sustained websites you should always remember
The key steps:

1. Identify a property to purchase.
2. Evaluate, negotiate, and complete the sale.
3. Add value to the property.
4. Find a buyer and sell the property.

Identifying a property to purchase

Before you actually start to run you need to learn how to walk (unless you’re forrest gump, in that case, Run forrest.. Run’¦)
You should always choose a subject you’re familiar with, readers and surfers are very sensitive creatures they can very easily spot a faker, if you buy a Physics forum and you’ve barley passed your math exams then this is the wrong niche for you.
It is very recommended that you’ll find a topic that you’ve got at list a clue about
(No… no… knowing E = mc2 doesn’t make you Albert Einstein)

After you’ve decided on the general subject you should always decide what it is
You’re looking for, is it Blogs that will force you to Buy articles or (God Forbid) actually writing one ‘“ this is very rewarding but if you’re thinking on established blogs you have to keep in mind that you’ll have to write A LOT in order to sustain and/or upgrade the blog’s ranking amount it’s niche
Or if you prefer Forum sites, where less Writing is required as usually you’ll have
A lot of other writers and you’ll only have to fight spam, keep the Servers up & generally keep conversation flowing. (You might be required to pay for Professional forum posters to create more topics and attract more visitors)
Or maybe you’ll prefer to buy an eStore that sells anything from ebooks / scripts / pixles / ideas/ dogs poo… whatever… I’ve seen them all) then you’ll just have to advertise a lot to get new customers and keep arguing with impossible-to-satisfy clients.

You should think about all of this Before you even go and search for the website itself as this is the solid ground you’re about to build upon.

Next time we’ll learn how to Evaluate, negotiate, and complete your sell without taking risks (or too many of them).

Good job :!: You vere sooo close to actually getting me to sign up for dig to vote for it, but I have an aversion, perhaps later.
Seriously, this is the type of insider reports newbies like me thirst for, case studies etc.
You wrote about ad blindness in another article earlier, I just discovered how completly blind I´m to the minimall ad, it´s so automatic how my eyes skip it that it was only because I was thinking about the layout that I noticed. Just a thought.
