For those of us who were there before Microsoft took over, the world was a very different place, and the introduction of Microsoft into the lives of day-to-day people of the time went exactly like this.

The Beast of Redmond — The Technical Side – An archive of a mailing list on an engineer’s board, which provides a good example of the public reaction to Microsoft from 2001 to present.

Making the Bill Gates myth grow – Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols at least is one corporate blogger who isn’t going to drool all over Gates’ feet.

Groklaw’s nearly-complete list of Microsoft Litigation – Contains at least every well-known lawsuit involving Microsoft in the company’s history, and most of the unknown ones as well.

Criticism of Microsoft – The small amount that Wikipedia will publish, that is.

Have you noticed how chummy Microsoft and U.S. president George W. Bush are?

• First, Bush all but threw out the antitrust case against Microsoft.
• A genealogist has found that Gates and Bush are 8th cousins.
• MSN messenger censors links to sites critical of Bush.
• And Bush appointed Microsoft’s own SQL engineer to serve a two-year term on the President’s Information and Technology Advisory Committee.
• And Microsoft employees donated a staggering amount to the Bush campaigns.
• You can’t even say “Bush hid the facts” in Windows Notepad and save it!
