New WordPress security fix released (2.2.2 and 2.0.11)

Posted by: Rea Maor In: Blogosphere News - Sunday, August 5th, 2007

Today we have two security-related releases available for both users of our main 2.2 branch and the legacy 2.0 branch. As these releases include only security and minor bugfixes they should not cause any plugin or theme compatibility issues, so you have no good excuse not to upgrade.
On our Trac you can see the bugs closed for 2.2.2 and 2.0.11 to get more details about the problems fixed. With a little more Trac magic you can see all the changed files for 2.2.2 or 2.0.11.

I’ll update the site backend as soon as I’ll verify the new release isn’t broken
(similar to the Widget problem with the original 2.2.0 update)

Please remember to make Backups of ALL your Themes and MySQL DB so in the unfortunate event of a complete chaos you won’t blame me 🙂

you May want to check this “Automatically upgrading wordpress” plug-in,
it might save you a whole lot of headache (or cause it to you).

Can I ask? Is updating wordpress means to uninstall everything, and install the new wordpress again? and then import the database and its plugins from scratch? 😥

  2. Rea Maor Says:

Not at all, as with all Major scripts and software wordpress has
Upgrade script of its own, Backing up is just in case there would be some problems or if you’ll wish to rollback to the previous version.

if you ask your host I’m sure he’ll be able to help you,
that’s what I’m doing with my clients and users, if there’s any need to update a script I always prefer to help them, it makes sure my servers are kept protected and my clients are happy.

if you happen to need any help you’re more than welcome to contact me privately and I’ll be happy to assist you.

Hi Rea Maor, sorry for the late reply… I haven’t got the chance to install it when my laptop screen started to give me problem… However i have solved it… I guess it is the cable inside is loose…

Oh Rea Maor, you manage servers? I didn’t know that… You are on the technical side, is it? I am glad to know you over the net… Thank you for your offer of help… I am so touched… I will remember you! :). I try it out first

I have been facing lots of those hosting problems with godaddy previously… to think that i was with them for almost 2 years already… they refused to solve it, saying that their host file has nothing wrong when I couldn’t configure it properly… But I think they are such a big company… It’s no wonder they are so confident of their company..

Well, there’s always the good side and bad side of working with big companies… people like me, who manage few servers or their own small brands, will always give you better and more personal support. On the other hand, no one on the private market can offer
low prices such as the big games do…

most of my clients prefer to pay a dollar or two more per month
and know that they have someone to talk to if they need anything special or having a complicated problem.

As I told you, if you need any help I’ll be more than happy to assist.
